Graduate Seminar in Nonhuman Primate Models for Human Evolution

This course, co-taught with Tom Plummer, focuses on what studies of nonhuman primates can tell us about human behavioral evolution. We survey the literature and critically evaluate the various models and scenarios of human social evolution that have been proposed over the past several decades. This is a reading- and discussion-based course, with grades based on participation in class discussions, in-class oral presentations, and written assignments.  This is a graduate course in the CUNY Anthropology PhD Program and the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP) graduate training program.
